Karkhana Wheel

The core of Karkhana philosophy is that when children are learning how to make things, they are actually learning how to reshape their worlds. Thus,the makers we train today, can shape their future and the future of the world.

TMPI (THINK, MAKE, PLAY and IMPROVE)

Karkhana utilizes a rapid iteration cycle called TMPI. This stands for Think Make Play and Improve. We teach the philosophy of TMPI to our students as well as practice it among ourselves. TMPI tells us that the way to solve new and unknown problems is to think of an approach, make something using it, play or test it and use the results of the test to think of a new way to approach the problem.

Karkhana, as an organization, believes collaboration and partnership is the key to introducing changes into an ecosystem. The partnership is not only bound within the team but also extends beyond the existing team to work on a common goal. We want to spark an interest in individuals and communities which will further lead them into working for the change we seek for.

We evoke emotions through our work

Humans are emotional beings. Thus, our work has to appeal to our audience emotionally. We put deliberate effort as well as an emotional investment as we believe that the work we do should have an emotional component, as we believe that this makes the work we do more valuable and meaningful while allowing us to produce the best finished product.

We exist for our people

The most important assets for Karkhana as an organization are our people. That’s why we always put high emphasis in providing valuable experiences to our team members. It is our belief that when we look after our people with love and dedication, they will in turn reciprocate the same love and dedication to our clients. Karkhana’s relationship is not only limited within the organization, but also to our stakeholders and customers. We seek to spark an interest in individuals and communities, be it schools, teachers, students, parents and organizations. We ensure that we support and help nurture them by providing best learning experiences. While we exist for our internal people as well, Karkhana also exists to serve the individuals or groups connected to us externally.

We push boundaries in everything we do

Karkhana is a safe space to learn and fail. This is true for both our team as well as our students. We encourage our team to sometimes put themselves in challenging and uncomfortable situations if it helps them grow. However, it is also true for the organization. Alongside this, our philosophy views mistakes as a result of courage. We look at courage as the ability to understand the fear of attempting something new, but still being willing to move forward.
