How to attend a google meeting webinar?

If you are attending a google meeting for the first time and stuck somewhere in the middle, I am here to guide you through the process. I acknowledge that you can use either a mobile or a desktop to attend the meeting, so I will write instructions for both of them in this article.

Please be informed that in order to attend a meeting, you must already have a meeting link. The meeting link would look something like this: https://meet.google.com/nsg-qqgo-asv

For the laptop/desktop:

First, click the link you are provided with. It should direct you to the page which will look something like this.

The small dialog box in the top corner prompts you to allow microphone and camera use for the meeting. You might need them at some point, so you can hit the allow button, but again it’s upto you whether or not to allow.

Now that you have sorted your permission settings, all you have to do is enter your name and click on the ‘Ask to join’ button.

After you click on ‘Ask to join‘ button’, you will be joining the meeting in just few seconds, but please make sure you are tuning in on the scheduled time only.

The microphone button and camera buttons allow you turn on or off your audio and video respectively. As this is the time of crisis, we should try to use as minimum bandwidth as possible to secure high connection and little lagging, so I recommend you to turn it off unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Present screen” button in the screen allows you to share your device’s screen to others in the meeting. While it might be useful for you to share your screen in other meetings, Karkhana webinars usually don’t require them, and I actually recommend you to turn it off because it might distract some viewers from the real screen that is presented by the webinar facilitator.

After joining the webinar, you might see the screen recording of the presenter, if he or she has already started. But in case he or she hasn’t, you have to first figure what is the name of the presenter, and then go through the list of people, find him or her, and click on the persenter’s name with the ‘present screen’ icon on it. This way, you can pin the screen recording and view exactly what your presenter wants you to view without any interruption.

After you join the meeting, you can present your queries in the chat box by clicking that chat icon on top right corner of your screen. This way, you can be interactive without interrupting the flow of the presenter. While it might take some time for us to answer, if we are in the middle of something, but we will certainly address your queries in the right time.

Now, I think you are all set to go. Have a wonderful and informative webinar.

For mobile:

If you want to attend a Google Meeting using a mobile phone, the first thing you need to do is to download an app called Hangouts Meet on your mobile. One way to go about it is by pre-installing Google Meet. The other way, however, is a bit simpler, which I will explain later.

How to pre-install Hangouts Meet?

For android user, this link should forward you to the Hangouts Meet download page.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.meetings

For iOS users, this link should forward you to the Hangouts Meet download page.

https://apps.apple.com/np/app/hangouts-meet-by-google/id1013231476

The other way…

First, you can click on the link you are provided with. If you don’t already have Hangouts Meet, you will directly be forwaded to the download page of the app. From there you can install the app.

After your app is installed, you will be directed to the exact meeting you came for.

Now you just need to click ‘Join Meeting’ button, and you will be able to attend the meeting. But please make sure you are tuning in on the scheduled time only.

The microphone button and camera buttons allow you to turn on or off your audio and video respectively. As this is the time of crisis, we should try to use as minimum bandwidth as possible to secure strong connection and little lagging, so I recommend you to turn it off unless it’s absolutely necessary.

But in case he or she hasn’t, you have to first figure out what is the name of the presenter, and then go through the list of people, find him or her, and click on the persenter’s name with the ‘present screen’ icon on it. In the above picture, anonymous is presenting the screen, so I have pinned anonymous’s screen so that I can view it properly without any interruption. This way, you can pin the scrren recording and view exactly what your presenter wants you to view.

After you join the meeting, you can present your queries in the chat box by clicking that chat icon on your screen. This way, you can be interactive without interrupting the flow of the presenter. While it might take some time for us to answer, especially when we are in the middle of something, but we will certainly address your queries in the right time.

Now, I think you are all set to go. Have a wonderful and informative webinar.
